PHOTOS
This photo was taken February 8, 1954. The dogs are Ch Katema of Carmel and Ch Phemister's Kedar. These dogs were the foundation for Bob Mankey and Jack Shafer's Cambria Basenjis and can be found in the distant pedigrees of many of today's Basenjis. |
This cream (or albino?) puppy was in a litter bred by | Bob Mankey & Jack Shafer in the late 60's. |
This photo, from the estate of Bob Mankey, is of a litter of Basenji puppies in South Africa. There is no date on the photo, but from the type of photo paper it appears to be from the late 50's or early 60's. |
Royal Emperor, a particular favourite of Miss Bowden-Smith. This photo comes from an article dated 1937 which is in quite delicate condition and rather faded. Information with the photograph reads as follows: "The dog illustrated will be recognised as the cream Basenji, Royal Emperor. The baby's perambulator is cream, mounted in silver; her bonnet and pillow are trimmed with real lace. The little rug over the pram is real ermine and white satin. Miss Bowden-Smith dressed the baby in this way to show off her cream Basenji when he went out with the baby, wearing his real gold collar set with diamonds." |
